I am a relatively recent recruit to Hines in Ireland. Joining Hines is providing a new perspective on an industry I have worked in for over 35 years. I am a civil engineer by background and have worked on the Main Contracting side of project procurement and delivery for most of that time. I have a broad range of sector experience over that time and have worked in the senior role on commercial, new build and refurbishment, residential and more recently Pharmaceutical and specialist services. I have worked for 3 Tier 1 contractors in that period and was at Director level in all 3 firms.
Concurrent with the day jobs, I took a very active role in the main industry body that represented Contractors in Ireland. called the Master Builders and Contractor Association. I was president of that body in 2008 which was a very interesting year given the challenges the industry faced towards the end of that year.
In recent years, I was actively seeking alternatives methods for delivery of projects using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). By this I mean both management systems and physical solutions such as off-site methods of construction. I was applying suitable solutions to both the Pharma sector and Residential sector.
